Our latest Partner Insight is from Megan Paget, our Conference Planning Executive who’s recently been over to Dublin on a familiarisation (fam) trip to stay at the Castleknock Hotel. Read on for hints, tips and her experience whilst out there…
Castleknock Hotel is a 4 star country hotel located about 2 kilometres from Castleknock Village between The Phoenix Park and Blanchardstown. The Hotel is located in the countryside, located next to Dublin’s famous landmarks such as Luttrellstown. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from Dublin City and 25 minutes from the Airport.
There are excellent transport links to and from the Hotel, it has easy access via car or public transport via bus. There is a bus stop located outside the hotel which has regular bus journeys into Dublin city centre. There are lots of Pubs and Restaurants nearby to the Hotel, located in the village of Castleknock. Dublin is such a busy place with lots to do and see! We took part in activities such as the Viking Tour around Dublin, Jameson’s Distillery where we made different types of drinks/cocktails and tried whiskey which was distilled for 15 years! We also went to Celtic Nights for dinner where we watched an Irish band and Irish dancers! There is also lots of history around Dublin too which is interesting.
The Hotel has upgraded leisure facilities which includes a new aerobics studio on the ground floor. There’s a 18m pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, and children’s pool area. This is available for all hotel guests to use. The venue has capacity for up to 450 delegates and 190 bedrooms on site. The venue have lots of space suitable for Team Building activities for delegates. The Hotel is very modern and has lots of charm and character.
The venue is ideal for business meetings from 10 delegates to an awards dinner for 300 delegates. The venue also have a range of recently refurbished meeting rooms including the innovative ‘Thinking Factory’ meeting room which is perfect for brainstorming groups, product launches and strategic meetings. The venue is also in an ideal location for Team Building weekends, as there is a huge variety of activities within Dublin city centre.
The final verdict
I loved the venue! The customer service was great and they really looked after us! The bedrooms are lovely and spacious and the meeting space was brilliant. Luckily, there was a large event on Friday evening, this gave us a chance to see one of the large meeting rooms set up for a large party and dinner – it looked fabulous!! We also experienced the types of activities you could offer delegates whilst staying in Dublin, i.e. cocktail making, Jameson’s Distillery Tour or the Guinness Factory – There definitely is something for everyone! An amazing fam trip and thank you to Castleknock for hosting me!
“Hope you have rested and recovered from our weekend in Dublin with Castleknock Hotel. Thank you so much for joining us; it was a pleasure to have you and I sincerely hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did. We are so pleased that you have been able to experience first-hand the newly refurbished and extended Castleknock Hotel. Please do think of the property for future briefs.” Emma Waycot, Managing Director, Vine Tree – Hotels, Venues & Destinations
