How long have you been at Venues and Events International?

1 year & 7 months.

What would you say is your favourite venue or destination?

Chewton Glen (the Treehouses are incredible).

What made you want to become a Conference Planning Executive?

The job is so different to anything I have done before and I have never had a job in the industry before this, but I felt as though my past roles of customer service and admin would tie in nicely and I’m a very organised person anyway so it’s a perfect job for me.

What is your biggest highlight of your career so far?

Being promoted from conference support to a conference planning executive – I received this promotion around 2 months after I started at Venues and Events International.

Can you describe a typical day of your job?

It’s so different everyday which is great as it’s never repetitive, I often speak with a lot of my clients throughout the day to catch up on any new enquiries they might have, finding the perfect venue to suit clients requirements, or I might be finalising details for a meeting / conference which is coming up! We often have venues come in and visit us in the office to update us on anything new or just to give us an insight to what they have to offer – which is great as we are always growing our venue knowledge.

What’s been your biggest challenge to date?

Probably coming into a new industry as I had to build my knowledge on venues very quickly – although this wasn’t difficult as so many of my colleagues from Venues & Events International have so much knowledge and experience within the industry they were able to share this with me when I needed help. There’s not a question I can ask that someone can’t answer – they really do know a lot!

What top tip would you give to anyone coming into the industry?

Being able to multi-task well is essential. We are responsible for looking after many different meetings and events for our clients, which could mean we are speaking with different clients and venues most days, so being able to keep on top of everything is key – it can be very fast paced!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?

At Venues & Events International – hopefully in a more senior role – with more experience and knowledge comes more responsibility!

What gives you that #FridayFeeling?

Being able to leave work knowing all my clients are happy and everything is in place ready to start again on Monday!
