Principal Manchester is the PERFECT choice for your clients next meeting, event, or group booking. Did you know the hotel is now part of IHG, and it is set to become one of the UK’s first Kimpton Hotels in Q1 2019!
The Principal Hotel launched in November 2016 following a £20 million refurbishment of the former Palace Hotel. The investment in this Manchester landmark building has restored Alfred Waterhouse’s Grade II listed masterpiece (built as the head offices for the Refuge Assurance Company) and – in the Refuge Dining Room and Public Bar – created a new destination for the various ‘tribes’ that make Manchester such a diverse and exciting creative hub.
All 270 of The Principal Manchester’s loft-style bedrooms and suites have been transformed by the award-winning team of interior designers at Michaelis Boyd to make the most of the stunning, double- and triple-height ceilings; of the many original, period features; and to provide the comfort and convenience expected of a luxury lifestyle hotel. The striking lobby space is dominated by a bronze statue of a horse made by the artist Sophie Dickens and which occupies the former turning circle for horse and carriage.
Notable architectural design features include the original marble and bronze Directors’ staircase and the beautifully paneled former Directors’ boardrooms, one of 17 conference, meeting and private dining rooms that have been fully restored and upgraded to combine modern technology with contemporary décor. These include the largest hotel ballroom in the northwest of England, which can accommodate up to 1,000 seated guests.
The hotel also boasts the following features:
