Two groups were invited to attend an IHG Product Knowledge day in London to experience four different brands with the IHG portfolio.
Hotel 1 – Crowne Plaza Kings Cross
The first visit of the day was to the Crowne Plaza Kings Cross – modern contemporary hotel, ten minute walk from Kings Cross Station. 7 Modern meeting rooms, maximum capacity 220. On the ground floor lovely Club room for Club guests, this room can also be hired for private use depending on availability, 405 Bedrooms with six suites which are modern and have all the essential amenities provided. For fitness fans there is a modern fitness centre, gym, pool and steam room.
Two restaurants, Belgo – main Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner – serves classic Belgium dishes, also they have an extensive range of Belgium beers. Blooms – Grab and Go breakfast served here, with relaxed informal seating. Snacks are served in during the evening.
Hotel 2 – Holiday Inn Bloomsbury
Our second visit was to the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury – located two minutes from Russell Square tube station. Modern bright hotel; large reception area and to the left of the main Restaurant the hotel has an Irish Pub on site.
There are 15 meetings rooms at this venue with the maximum capacity being 300 Theatre style, all meeting rooms well designed and modern. Meetings Academy area where on site there is a dedicated meetings host. Relaxed informal seating within this area, great for working lunch to network etc.
Hotel 3 – Hotel Indigo, Leicester Square
Next on our tour was Hotel Indigo located in Leicester Square – very modern contemporary boutique venue with 95 bedrooms which are themed with a theatrical feel bright and modern with an art-deco vibe.
Hotel indigo has an amazing Roof top restaurant/bar which has stunning panoramic views of London. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served here – a lovely way to unwind having a drink whilst eating and taking in the views. This area can be sectioned off to provide a private/semi-private area subject to availability,
Hotel 4 – Kimpton Fitzroy
Our last visit for the day was at the stunning Kimpton Fitzroy – which has undergone a major 85M refurbishment; from walking into the reception area you are in awe of the beautiful marble flooring and beautiful wide staircase.
This is the first Kimpton to open in the UK; with others to open from 2019 onwards. The Kimpton has 334 bedrooms and 10 meeting rooms, The stunning Ballroom has been restored to offer a beautiful area to accommodate a maximum of 300 theatre style, it has its own private entrance making easy access.
There are four restaurants/bars to accommodate for all tastes, Fitz’s is a glamorous cocktail bar and offers an extensive list of cocktails, seating is relaxed and elegant. On Wednesday evenings they host Jazz nights. On the ground floor there is a coffee house, informal modern style, great for grab and go food. Plenty of seating and and ideal area for small informal meetings or one to ones or working space. Palm Court lovely modern light and airy, afternoon tea is served within this area. Neptune – Seafood Restaurant, chic and modern. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served here.
Each evening The Kimpton hosts an informal social event from 5pm to 6pm – which is a great idea for guests/delegates to attend after a meeting etc to relax with a drink to mingle with other hotel guests/staff and also to learn about the history of the venue. There is also a fitness centre on site.
We all had a valuable day learning about the different and diverse venues that the IHG portfolio offer and adds to our venue find knowledge.
