The importance of getting the food right at any event
December 19, 2018

Earlier this month, Conference Planning Executive Megan Paget had the pleasure of joining Melia International Hotels on a three-day FAM trip to Seville, followed by a further three days in Bareclona for the IBTM world trade show.

Here’s what Megan had to say about her experience and her key points for meeting planners…

The Gran Melia Colon (5* hotel) would be a great venue for an awards ceremony. The venue is breath-taking and would be great for a special event or conference. The Luxury Hotel is located in the centre of Seville and it is a member of ‘The Leading Hotels of The World’. There are panoramic views of the city, along with a pool located on the terrace. The location would be great for team building activities and there are lots of site seeing tours to take part in. During our trip to Seville we also visited the Melia Seville  and the Melia Lebreros  – both amazing hotels and took part in lots of activities such as flamenco dancing, Seville Cathedral, Art Gallery and tapas tour.

The Barcelona Sky (another 5* hotel) and was my favourite hotel! My room was on the 19th Floor and the views were outstanding. The food and hospitality at the venue were great too. The hotel is located in the most fashionable district in Barcelona. Just a short distance from the main attractions and the beach, and only 15 minutes by public transport from the city centre. All of the bedrooms are bright, airy and are fully renovated and equipped with the latest technology, they offer views over the city and sea. You can also see the outstanding views from the panoramic 24 Cielos terrace. The hotel has a YHI Spa for the guests to enjoy all the facilities and personalised treatments.

Overall, I had an amazing time with Melia International Hotels. They were amazing hosts and we had such a brilliant itinerary and I met some amazing people! Each of the venues have their own character and charm. By attending the IBTM global event in Barcelona was a great way for me to build face to face connections with the right people and gain key knowledge in the industry. I met with lots of different suppliers across the 3 days, including Shangrai-La Hotel, The Lowry Hotel and Gran Palas 5 Experience (Spain) plus many more!

IBTM  consists of  3000+ exotic destinations and suppliers ready to meet and network with 15,000+ industry professionals, from over 141 countries across the world – a fantastic opportunity for Megan to build upon her international destination knowledge.
