In this edition, Event Manager Olivia Unsworth takes us through her recent trip to Prague.

I was lucky enough recently to attend MCE Central & Eastern Europe, organised by the incredible team at Europe Congress (EC), as a hosted buyer. I flew out on an early morning flight from London Heathrow and was greeted at Prague International Airport by two of the lovely EC team before being transported to the InterContinental Prague Hotel.

I arrived around 11:00am and my bedroom was already available for me to check in … bonus! I freshened up and checked out the hotels facilities before joining the walking tour of Prague Old Town and Jewish Quarter that was arranged by EC. I’m so glad I took the opportunity to explore the beautiful city by foot and thought it was great that EC offered us the opportunity to do this before a full two days of networking and meetings. I can’t recommend a walking tour of Prague enough if you are ever to take a group there because it really is a city rich in culture and history. Even if you only have an hour or two, there is so much you can see especially with a guide that has great knowledge!

On Sunday evening, we met for pre-dinner drinks at the Zlata Praha Restaurant, which is the InterContinental’s rooftop restaurant and the views overlooking Prague were just spectacular. Simply stunning! We were then transported by classic trams to the Lobkowicz Palace where we had an evening of fine dining and amazing entertainment. For a group that you want to give the ‘wow’ factor to and show them something they wouldn’t be able to experience if they were to visit Prague on leisure, the Lokbkowicz Palace is an outstanding dinner venue.

Monday started with a Keynote – Insight into the CEE Region as a MICE destination, with short presentations from several suppliers. It was then into one-to-one business meetings which were interesting, useful and fun! It really showed that EC considered each delegate separately and ensured that not only did we meet with all suppliers that we requested but that they were relevant to us. One of my favourite parts of the entire few days was The Meetology Keynote by Jonathan Bradshaw, he had the whole room thinking about the way we connect and network with people daily. I would highly recommend Jonathan for any events where you’re looking for a captivating speaker that engages with delegates on and off the stage.

On Monday evening, it was a Gatsby themed dinner at Empire Hall! The catering left me speechless, the most incredible food by Zatisi Catering Group. Melted chocolate rivers, chocolate mousse that looks like trees and chocolate ice cream pans making the most delicious ice-cream rolls! The speechlessness didn’t stop there with the most incredible table mapping by Quix Event – the whole room was amazed, never having seen anything like it before!

Tuesday was departure day but not before another morning of great one-to-one business meetings before a final networking lunch and departure.

Overall, the event was fantastic. The organisation was admirably done, the city was beautiful, and the networking opportunities were priceless. I met some amazing industry professionals and it was fantastic to be able to share thought leadership.
