Venues and Events International resident northerner, Account Director Tracey Hilton, talks us through her favourite venues for business and pleasure in Manchester and Cheshire.
Where to sleep – The Lowry, Manchester
Following an extensive £700,000 refurbishment – the Presidential Suite at the Lowry Hotel is really the only place to stay in Manchester. The suite is the largest both available and planned in the city, with a price tag of £4,000 per night. A-list guests frequent the suite, which has also hosted prime ministers and Royalty and is the only Presidential Suite in a Manchester hotel where a president has actually stayed.
Where to eat – Menagerie, Manchester
Frequented by celebrities and influencers Menagerie is the most Instagram-able location on our list. The cocktail bar is fun and inventive including sharers served in a bespoke music box. The menu is creative and beautifully presented with themed set menus including Moulin Rouge. On weekends, the restaurant is transformed in to a ‘party like no other’ with entertainment from their resident Menagerie Angels.
Where to meet – Carden Park, Cheshire
Having recently undergone a huge refurbishment, Carden Park could now be described as a conference resort. Meeting rooms are fully kitted out with the latest technology including the Carden Suite which holds a maximum of 400 delegates theatre style. On site activities include high ropes, quad biking, archery and even Segway’s. With a new spa set to be complete in summer 2020 – Carden Park is the perfect destination for an away day or multi day conference. I recently attended a familiarisation trip here and was blown away – this is definitely going to be a popular venue in 2019.
Where to entertain – Hotel Football
Owned by some of the biggest names in the sport, Hotel Football is a fun and surprising venue. The menu includes subtle nods to the sport such as the Hometeam burger or the Mara Doner pizza with the theme continued to the cocktail list – Red Devil anyone? The real surprise comes upstairs, with an artificial turf pitch on the rooftop terrace that has even played host to a secret gig by the Charlatans (with cameo on Guitar from Gary Neville!).
