In The Know – Cotswold Venues
Conference Planning Executive Kelly Stevens gives her insight into the best of the Cotswolds.
The Cotswolds is becoming a firm favourite for private events with a touch of luxury – perfect for board meetings or executive retreats. Right on our doorstep, these are some of our favourites:
Nestled in the postcard-perfect village of Southrop, Thyme is a true country estate. It comprises a choice of cottage and farmhouse hotel accommodation – some of which can be separately rented by groups – along with a spa, cookery school and just a short walk away, the fantastic Swan at Southrop gastro-pub.
Part of the fantastic Exclusive Collection, The Manor House is a 14th Century luxury hotel and golf club which boasts Michelin starred dining and a dedicated gin bar. Just a short walk into the village takes you to the hotel owned 12th Century pub and a quick buggy ride takes you to their championship golf course.
When sister properties include Cliveden and Chewton Glen, you know you’re in for something special. The Lygon Arms has just completed an extensive refurbishment and is the only place to see and be seen in picturesque Broadway. A stunning spa is an unexpected discovery amongst the fascinating history of this historic hotel dating back to the 1300s.
Set within four acres of formal gardens including a knot garden and a potager is the magnificent Barnsley House. The bedrooms in the main house range from large attic suites with fabulous views over the garden to the hotel’s smallest, but still generously sized, double room looking on to the front drive. The spa – hidden in a beautiful garden dell – has added imaginative touches such as herbs drying outside the sauna. The inhouse Cinema room is an unexpected delight.
Dormy House lies in the 400-acre Farncombe Estate, the core of which is a 17th-century farmhouse, Ideal for exclusive use events the hotel boasts 38 stylish bedrooms, restaurant, potting shed bar and three exquisite lounges that can be configured to suit your event.
