Job Title

Conference Director

Biography

I joined Anita at what was then Venues Unlimited in 2002, first working as a Reservations Co-Ordinator, after a short time I moved over to the venue finding team as a Conference Consultant looking after various financial services clients. In 2010 following our acquisition by Expotel I was promoted to Conference Team Manager servicing transferred clients from our new parent company. In 2015 I was lucky enough to move over to the newly formed Venues and Events International as Conference Director looking after a team of 5 Conference Planning Executives. As of today, the team has increased to 15.

What is the event you have most enjoyed working on?

An event for a car manufacturer where we spent 2 days at the fantastic Coombe Abbey Hotel. We arranged a medieval banquet at Warwick Castle and a trip to Stratford. The delegates had come over from Japan so it was great to see them all enjoying our culture and the special experiences we gave them.

What is your favourite UK event venue and why?

My venue of the moment is the Old Swan and Minster Mill at Minster Lovell. It’s situated on the riverside in a peaceful Cotswold village and offers an exceptionally high quality environment with it’s lovely meetings spaces, bedrooms and the fantastic spa. It has a cosy country pub located next door which is great for breaking an event up a little by offering delegates a chance to experience an evening there.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Charlie and Daisy Cooper who wrote and starred in This Country. I think that this programme is hilarious, and the comedy is so clever. It’s based near Cirencester which is local to us and so we can relate to lots of the references that they make. I would love to interrogate them about how they came up with it and their journey so far. And I know that they would make me laugh……a lot!
