Our Spotlight On this week features Olivia (Liv to her friends) Unsworth from our events team.
My first taste of the events industry was doing work experience with a number of the team, a year later an opportunity to join Anita came up and I jumped at the chance! I started at Venues and Events International as a Junior Event Manager, I worked alongside members of the teams delivering events for clients such as MAN Truck and Bus. After a year and a half I was promoted to Event Manager which is my current role and I now have my own client list. Within the team I tend to focus on incentives and events that need a more creative eye – which is a passion of mine. My upcoming events include an incentive to Tanzania and Zanzibar for a cosmetics company, another incentive on a luxury yacht starting in Nice and ending in Rome for an automotive client, and a huge ride-and-drive event for the same client. 2020 is going to be a truly International year for me!
What is the event you have most enjoyed working on?
This is so hard to answer! I would have to say ENGIE Excellence Awards because it was the first event I led on my own. I had 15 suppliers and managed everything from logistics to content and overall theme. We had just a 1 hour turnaround time to get the venue ready as it was a public museum (The Museum of Science and Industry). We managed it with a 23 strong production crew onsite. I took Kim on the event with me which was a lot of pressure but I got outstanding feedback from our own Senior Management Team and most importantly, our client. This was the event that took me from a Junior Event Manager to an Event Manager and I’ve looked after it ever since.
What is your favourite UK event venue and why?
Royal Museums Greenwich – the variety of event spaces they have and how rich in history and culture they are is so fascinating to me. The perfect foundation for any corporate to take and adapt to their brand and it’s story!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
I can’t decide between David Attenborough and Gemma Collins. Both national treasures if you ask me!
