Our Venue To Watch this month is the newly opened hotel, LEVEN in Manchester city centre.
Situated in Manchester’s village, only 5 minutes from Piccadilly Station is LEVEN, a hotel that is designed to make you feel at home. The hotel building has unmissable red brick walls and Crittal windows that hold a rich history. Before becoming a hotel, the building was used as a cotton warehouse, a brewery, and a comedy club.
In Dutch, leven means live, and this hotel embodies that to ensure guests feel comfortable during their stay. Each room in the hotel is unique, with wooden floors and bespoke furniture. Some rooms feature high ceilings and even stand-alone baths. The rooms either have a canal or city view. Guests are treated to a pair of limited-edition LEVEN socks in their room, as well as a free breakfast smoothie every morning of their stay.
The hotel partially opened just its rooms in November 2021 and has now fully opened their café and bar in Spring 2022. The café at LEVEN embodies its homely spirit as much as the rest of the hotel. Guests can find a cosy spot to work or relax, along with a cup of coffee and locally sourced treats.
The hotel regularly hosts exhibitions, with the most recent one being earlier this year. The Ruslan Faraev Institute of Art had a series of nine art exhibitions shown in the hotel. LEVEN ensures that all exhibitors are local Manchester-based creatives.
